Understand a lab result

You get bloodwork back and it is a wall of numbers with no explanation. Upload it here and Ethia reads it for you, telling you what each marker means for someone with your condition, in plain language. The easiest way in is to upload a file, so that is what this guide shows.

A couple of minutes · uploading does the work for you
1

Open your labs

On your home screen, click Understand a lab result. You can also open Labs & documents from the panel on the right. Either way lands you in the same place.

Here's what I can make for you

Add a lab

You did it right if: a page opens asking “How would you like to add your lab results?”

2

Choose “Upload a File”

You will see three ways to add labs. Pick the first one, Upload a File. It is marked Recommended, and it is the least work. Ethia pulls the numbers off your report for you, so you do not have to type anything.

Upload a File
Upload your report and Ethia extracts your markers automatically.
Enter Manually
Type values in yourself. Good for paper results or partial data.
✦ Pro+ Feature
Connect Your EHR
Sync from your hospital automatically. No uploading needed.

You did it right if: the “Upload Lab Results” page opens with a box to drop files into.

3

Add your file and the test date

Drag your lab report into the box, or click it to browse your device. A PDF or a photo of the page is perfect. Then set the Test Date so Ethia can place it on your timeline. That is all it needs.

📄
Drag & drop files or click to browse
PDF, JPG, PNG, CSV, XLS, XLSX — up to 10 files, 10MB each
Test Date *
mm / dd / yyyy

You did it right if: your file appears as a small tag under the box, and the upload button turns solid green.

4

Let Ethia read it, then see it explained

Submit, and Ethia reads your labs in the background. You are free to keep using Ethia while it works. When it is ready, the bell at the top lets you know, and each number comes back with what it actually means for you.

Working on it. Your labs are being analyzed. We'll notify you the moment each one is ready to review.

CRP12 mg/LAbove range
C-reactive protein is a marker of inflammation. Yours is higher than the typical range, which for someone with Crohn's can reflect disease activity. It is worth asking your doctor whether this fits how you have been feeling.

You did it right if: your markers appear with a plain-language note on each. You can ask Ethia a follow-up about any of them right in the chat.

That is the whole point of adding labs: numbers you can actually understand, kept in one place over time. Add each new panel as you get it.
